Arnaldur Indridason, The Draining Lake
"[The Reykjavik] series places Indridason at the
centre of the best of contemporary crime fiction."
The Guardian
The Draining Lake is the fourth book in Arnaldur Indridason's Reykjavik Thriller series.
A lake near Reykjavik has mysteriously been draining away, and in the bed of the lake a human skeleton surfaces. The skeleton is weighed down by a heavy radio device bearing inscriptions in Russian.
The investigation takes Erlendur and his team back to the Cold War era, when Icelandic left-wing students went to study in the Communist East Germany. The investigators follow a long cold trail of international espionage and murder that leads back to Iceland.
