Henning Mankell, The Dogs of Riga
"A tale rich in gritty local culture...The plot is
satisfyingly seamy, Wallander is, as always, discombobulated and astute."
- The Los Angeles Times Book Review
The Dogs of Riga is the second novel in Henning Mankell's Kurt Wallander series.
Two unidentified men wash up on the Swedish coast in an inflatable dinghy. Kurt Wallander’s investigation of the murders takes him to Eastern Europe. Set after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Wallander encounters a chaotic society largely bereft of law and order.
Wallander's introspection and self-doubt add to the tension as he battles forces far larger and more volatile than the bloodless frauds he usually deals with in Sweden.
