The Locked Room is the eighth book in Sjöwall-Wahlöö's Martin Beck Police Mystery series.
Two plots run simultaneously in The Looked Room. Martin Beck is recovering from being shot, and is asked to take over a case that so far have lead nowhere because of a number of mistakes made in the investigation. It’s a classic locked room case that leads Beck to woman who stirs up his emotions.
Meanwhile Larsson and Kollberg have against wishes been appointed to assist a special task force trying to solve a spree of bank robberies. They too have to deal with an investigation that has been badly handled by their colleagues.
The intuitive inspector Martin Beck starts realizing that the two cases are separate parts in the same puzzle.
