Stieg Larsson
Stieg Larsson honed his research skills as an investigative journalist. His area of expertise was the extreme, racist right. As a result, he was uniquely equipped to create the web of corruption, threats and violence found in the Millennium series.
And consequently the main character Mikael Blomkvist is not a police officer, but a driven writer and journalist with powerful enemies. He shares the spotlight with the young eccentric Lisbeth Salander. The Swedish title of the first book in the series translates to Men Who Hate Women, and Lisbeth does not always fare well in this company.
Stieg Larsson died shortly after submitting the manuscripts for his three novels. His life partner (and co-writer?) Eva Gabrielsson is currently finalizing her memoir about Larsson. Maybe we will soon know the truth about the rumored fourth novel in the Millennium series.
